Access to technology and the resources that provide pathways to STEM careers have been limited for underrepresented minority students. The COVID-19 pandemic magnified the opportunity gaps of many underrepresented minorities related to their access to technology and experiential learning opportunities. This is especially true with underrepresented minority students who have come from low-income families and as a result, they are not able to access technology that would enhance their learning experience.
The purpose of Project PATHS is the following:
Project PATHS and Social Justice
Project PATHS seeks to provide equity in education for students who typically do not receive access to advanced technology that will enhance their academic journey. Through our program, we will provide students with opportunity and allow them explore STEM, especially computer science career pathways.
Because of the HCC Foundation Social Justice Grant, we are able to provide access and equity to underrepresented minority students who may not have access to technology in school and in their homes.
